Well, I didn’t want to plagiarize any well-known novels out there, but I wanted to journal how I look and feel as I reach the age of 50.
Everybody seems to see me as this high-flying CEO with a great global recruitment company. I fly back and forth between South Africa, the UK, and Europe and people often view this with different goggles than how myself and my family see it. The truth be told – yes I am very confident in the business space with a superb global business, however, I am rather insecure when it comes to the health and wellness side of things and insecure in the fact that I have lost control of my weight over the past 2 years. Currently, I am pretty fit, and run twice a week, cycle twice a week, play padel once a week, and golf once a week. So, I am not in any bad condition, but I will not open the door to 50 knowing that I am not in the best shape of my life.
My wife is a Health and Wellness Coach, and she got me to lose 8 and a half kilograms in 6 weeks a few years back by eating properly and eating at the right times. It was the first time that my tummy had a six-pack in a long while. I was looking great….and gradually over two or three years, I lost a little bit of control. It was very gradual, but in the end, I was the one that was in charge, and I had lost it. She said those words that all husbands dread. She said, “Robbie….I am disappointed”.
I am here and I am present – I am going to be 50 in 81 days. I am back on the wagon and I intend to go on this journey again to lose 10 kilograms realistically (and 12kgs if possible). I am weighing in at 76 kg and should ideally be around 64 kg (based on my small stature).
I took a “before” picture on my holiday – looking a bit podgy!! Health and Wellness should be the number one priority for everyone. It is to me!!
So, join me on this journey and Follow me as I will be accountable and post my journal as often as I can. I know it is going to be tough. No boozing. No binge eating. No Straying off the beaten track.
Throw me some high fives along the way – I know it will be tough, but I know I will feel great by the end.
I am certainly looking forward to it!
